The National Board of Revenue Wednesday launched a service centre for taxpayers on Topkhana Road for Dhaka tax zone-7, NBR said in a statement, reports bdnews24.com.

NBR chairman Muhammad Abdul Mazid inaugurated the first service centre for taxpayers.

At the inauguration ceremony, Mazid said the centre was meant to build good relations between taxpayers and tax officials.

Mazid told bdnews24.com by phone that the service centre was part of a NBR plan to continue to reach the target of revenue collections.

The NBR made record revenue collections in fiscal 2007-08, spurring it to the collection target for the first time.

The NBR chairman said the service centre would cut hassles of taxpayers.

More service centres will be opened in phases in future, he added.
