Bangladesh Union Parishad Oikyojote has demanded polls to all 482 upazilas in October instead of just 300, a BUPO spokesperson said Tuesday.

The organisation of UP leaders also announced a six-day campaign programme starting from July 26 to encourage people to vote in honest and qualified candidates in the upcoming elections to four city corporations and nine municipalities.
BUPO chairman Mahbubur Rahman Tulu read out a written statement in a press briefing at the Reporters Unity auditorium in Segunbagicha, voicing concern that many listed criminals were contesting in the elections.
"That's why we are going to launch a campaign to encourage people to elect honest and qualified candidates," Rahman said.
The campaign includes distributing handbills and posters on people's responsibility regarding voting, making public the information given in the affidavits of the nomination papers by the candidates and holding views exchange programme with different professionals.
