Midfielder signs three-year deal to be reunited with Bruce

Sky Sports

Wigan Athletic have finalised the signing of Olivier Kapo in a £3.5million deal from Birmingham City.

Kapo has accepted a three-year contract with the Latics and will be reunited with Steve Bruce at the JJB Stadium.

Latics boss Bruce was in charge of Birmingham when Kapo moved to St Andrews last summer from Juventus.

The French midfielder scored five times in 26 Premier League appearances, but was unable to prevent Blues from relegation to the Championship.

He had been expected to leave the club and Bruce's successor Alex McLeish said he would not stand in Kapo's way, if the club received the right offer.

The deal gives Birmingham a minor profit on Kapo, who becomes Wigan's second signing of the summer after former Blues team-mate Daniel De Ridder joined on a free transfer.
