Release of Khaleda Zia

Staff Correspondent

The Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal Monday announced a hunger strike on July 22 to press home a four-point demand including the release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and curbing the prices of essentials.

The BNP front organisation voiced concern over the price hike of essentials.
"The so-called '1/11' changeover destroyed everything and threw the country into uncertainty over the last 16 months," the organisation's general secretary Shamsuzzaman Khan Dudu said in a written statement at the NAM Flat residence of BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, acting president of the organisation, said that they demanded Khaleda Zia be released and her two sons Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman Coco be sent abroad for better medical treatment."
The state of emergency must also be lifted, he said.
