Safia Khatun, mother of Birsreshtha captain Mohiuddin Jahangir, died in Barisal early Saturday at the age of 80.

Bachchu Howlader, Safia's younger son, said his mother died shortly after midnight at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
 
Safia had suffered from heart diseases and old-age complications for long.
 
Safia was admitted to hospital as her condition deteriorated Friday.
 
"She had been kept under observation at the hospital's coronary care unit," Bachchu said.
 
Safia will be buried beside the grave of her husband Abdul Motaleb Howlader at their family graveyard after a janaza on Saturday.
