Noakhali road accident

Our Correspondent

Four people died and two were injured, all members of one family, as a microbus lost control and veered into a roadside canal at Begumganj, Noakhali, early Monday, police said.

Aminul Haque, sub-inspector of Begumganj police station said, the family from Dhaka was travelling in the rented microbus to Maijdi Bazar in Noakhali, along the Choumuhani-Feni road, to attend a kulkhani.

The dead were identified as Nasrin Akhter (35), her sons Udoy (12) and Hridoy (8) and niece Sumaiya Islam (8).

The injured were Aminul Islam (55) and brother-in-law Shafiqul Islam (35).

The cause of the accident was not known immediately. The police official guessed that the driver might have felt drowsy and lost control of the vehicle.

Aminul could not say where the family lived in Dhaka. The microbus driver managed to flee.

A case was being filed, the sub-inspector said.
