AFP, NEWCASTLE, England - Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has signed a new three-year contract with the club. With several teams reportedly interested in the 22-year-old, Newcastle owner Mike Ashley instructed new managing director Derek Llambias to make sure the local hero didn't leave St James' Park. Taylor, who came up through the club's Academy, said Friday: "I am thrilled to have signed this new contract. "Newcastle United is my hometown club and the only team I've ever wanted to play for. "I can't wait to get back into pre-season training next week and get stuck into the Premier League campaign next month." |
