AP, LONDON -- The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading Friday morning. Gold rose.

The euro traded at $1.5764, up from $1.5760 late Thursday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

--106.28 Japanese yen, down from 107.93

--1.0190 Swiss francs, down from 1.0232

--1.0093 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0118

The British pound was quoted at $1.9863, down from $1.9877.

Gold traded in London at $923.00 per troy ounce, up from $892.50 late Thursday
