Police have been stationed outside Josef Fritzl's "House of Horrors" in a bid to deter tourists from taking souvenir photographs of the dungeons where his daughter was imprisoned for 24 years.

A group of young people were spotted "laughing and joking" when Fritzl's wife paid her first visit to the house since police discovered the network of underground rooms where Elisabeth and was kept.

Rosmarie Fritzl arrived at the house in Amstetten with a relative to tour the dungeon.

Inside, she picked up toys for her six-year-old grandson Felix - one of the three grandchildren kept locked in the cellar by her husband.
She also picked up personal items for Elisabeth and her other children.

Mrs Fritzl has told friends that she does not want to live in the "tainted" house again, according to reports.

Elizabeth was lured to the windowless basement of the home when she was 18. Inside, she bore seven children by her father, one of whom died.

Three of her children were removed by Fritzl.

He told his wife Elisabeth had run away to join a cult and that he had found the children dumped on the doorstep. The couple later adopted them.

Elisabeth's 24 year ordeal ended when her eldest daughter Kerstin, 19, fell ill and she forced her father to take her to the hospital for treatment.

When doctors appealed for her mother to come forward and provide details of her medical history, Fritzl finally freed his daughter and her two other captive children.

Mrs Fritzl is currently living with Elisabeth and her children at a psychiatric clinic.
