The government is trying its utmost to ensure the participation of the major political parties in formal dialogue, the education adviser said Saturday.

"The success of the dialogue is essential for the country. We believe all parties will join the dialogue," adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman told reporters after the unveiling of an annual report on primary education at the LGED Auditorium in Agargaon.

"We are continuing our utmost efforts to ensure the participation of the major parties in the dialogue. We are proceeding in consideration with the demands of the political parties. The results will come in time."

On the refusals by Awami League and BNP to attend the dialogue without their party chiefs, the adviser said: "We hope the parties will participate in the dialogue as they represent huge groups of people. Their participation is crucial for the sake of national consensus."

"Nobody disagrees that the success of the dialogue is essential for the country. All of us are eager to resolve the problem."

"We hope all parties will join the dialogue and make it successful," Zillur said.

The adviser reiterated that the government would hold a parallel dialogue with civil society alongside dialogue with the political parties.

"All of us wish to see a democratic system. Everybody should work jointly for that," he said.
