Five people died and four others were injured after a truck and a passenger vehicle were involved in a head-on collision on the Doultadia-Khulna highway Friday night, a police official said, reports bdnews24.com.

SI Kamal Hossain of Goaland Ghat Police Station said the accident occurred when a Goaland Bazar bound passenger vehicle from Doulatdia collided with a goods truck at Canal Ghat killing three people instantly.

Naosher Ali of Rajbari village and the driver of the passenger vehicle Fazlu died after being taking to hospital.

Of the injured only two were identified, as Abdul Gaffar, 35, and 'Sultan', 37.

The police ceased the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene.

A case has been filed in connection with the accident, Hossain said.
