Unknown gunmen shot a Special Branch inspector and stole Tk 2 lakh from his possession, police said Wednesday.

The gunmen shot Nurul Amin as he was leaving a bank in Uttara, fellow SB inspector Hanif Shikder told bdnews24.com.

Amin was initially admitted to Tongi Hospital and later transferred to the Razarbagh Police Hospital.

Inspector Hanif said that Nurul Amin was returning home by rickshaw after withdrawing the cash from the National Bank branch at Mascot Plaza at around 10 am, when two men on a motorbike waylaid him and snatched the money after shooting at him.

No arrest has been made so far.
