Bdnews24.com The government will pull out all the stops to make dialogue with political parties a success, and is urging all parties to approach the meetings with a view to solving issues, advisers said Tuesday.
"The government will try to convince any unwilling political party to join the dialogue," communications adviser Ghulam Quader told reporters after a meeting at his ministry.
Quader had earlier held a meeting with two colleagues, local government adviser Anwarul Iqbal and education adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman.
"The government is working with all sincerity to make the dialogue successful," Quader said.
The formal meetings will start on May 22 with three parties, Bikalpadhara Bangladesh, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and Workers Party, adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman said.
The education adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman had called on all political parties earlier in the day to approach upcoming government dialogue with a view to resolving issues and a sense of responsibility.
"I am sure the major parties are responsible organisations. They will show a sense of responsibility in the dialogue," Zillur told reporters in a discussion meeting at the National Academy for Education Management in the capital.
Zillur asked all political parties to join the dialogue with a positive view to resolving issues, saying: "The dialogue will see a good result if the parties go forward with an attitude of solution."
"We have already sent letters to all political parties. Seven parties have sent back lists of their representatives."
"We are working on the schedules now," Zillur said.
The purpose of the dialogue is to fulfill the people's desires and expectations and these will be met through holding a proper election, he said.
On the stance of the political parties, he said: "You have to believe in the possibility of solution. The people also want solution."
"I am sure the atmosphere of dialogue will be one of solutions," he added.
Zillur also mentioned the government was working to launch a second Bangladesh Television channel for education. "We have taken specific planning on that matter," he said of the new 'Education Channel'.
