Illegal construction in city Staff Reporter An American expatriate is allegedly raising illegal concrete structures defying court order and CDA(Chittagong Development Authority) Code in city’s Dewanbazar area under Kotwali Police Station. Sources in the area said, Nalini Nath, an expat erects the structure in connivance with some local police men. The expatriate earlier , it is learnt, raised a three storied structure on the nearby site violating CDA Code and court ‘ status quo’. Locals alleged, he has recently piled up construction materials to erect a concrete house on the drain of Chittagong City Corporation adjacent to the house of one Swapan Kanti Das of Machuca Jharna Lane in the area. Swapan Kanti Das lodged complaints with concerned authorities including Chittagong Development Authority and Joint Forces office. In response, CDA engineers after visiting the site instructed Nath to refrain from erecting concrete structure in place of bamboo one. Besides, the court also issued status quo order under section 145 of Cr.Procedure Code in a case 626/08. |
