A special court Thursday sentenced former National Board of Revenue member ATM Sarwar Hossain to 13 years in jail on charges of amassing illegal wealth and concealing information about assets.

Judge Md Sirajul Islam fined Sarwar Tk 10 lakh and he will have to serve another year behind bars in failure to pay the sum.

The Special Judge's Court-7, set up in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, jailed Sarwar's wife Nazma Sarwar for three years for abetting her husband.

Nazma will have to stay six more months in prison if she fails to pay Tk 1 lakh in fine, slapped by the court.
