The UK has welcomed chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed's address to the nation and termed it "very positive",reports bdnews24.com.
"The UK very much welcomed this speech (by the chief adviser)," outgoing British high commissioner Anwar Choudhury told reporters Tuesday after inaugurating an electronic projector in Shahbagh.
The projector will display information on voter registration and other related details during elections. UK's international development wing Department for International Development and the UNDP co-funded the project.
"It shows the election is going to be held in December. There is progress towards withdrawal of the emergency," Choudhury said.
"The election has been a national consensus that is truly reflected in the chief adviser's speech," he said.
Terming the elections "a national project" the high commissioner hoped that the project would be successful.
"There are a lot of positive things in the speech," he said.
