Bdnews24.com Islamic Development Bank president Ahmed Mohamed Ali Monday met chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed in the CA's office, a government spokesman said.
The chief adviser thanked the IDB president for the bank's contribution to rehabilitating Sidr-hit people, CA's press secretary Syed Fahim Munaim told reporters after the meeting.
The IDB gave $13 crore on rehabilitation programmes for Sidr victims.
The IDB chief arrived in Dhaka Monday on a two-day visit.
Fakhruddin said the aid came at an appropriate time. "It would help the people of the southern part of the country. Cyclone shelters would be built with the money as soon as possible," the CA was quoted as saying.
The CA told the IDB chief said the government took up short-term and long-term programmes to rehabilitate Sidr-affected people.
"Roads and embankments are being constructed. Communication-related problems turned out to be a big problem during the relief efforts after cyclone Sidr."
The IDB president said the bank would start work on the rehabilitation programmes soon.
Mohamed Ali is scheduled to visit Bagerhat, Barguna and Pirojpur Tuesday.
He praised farmers of Bangladesh for their efforts to tackle food crisis in the country.
He met finance adviser AB Mirza Azizul Islam in the afternoon.
