Awami League general secretary Abdul Jalil's parole has been extended by two more months with effect from May 13, a home ministry order issued Sunday said, reports bdnews24.com.

An ailing Jalil was paroled and flown to Singapore on March 3, where he was admitted to Mount Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. His parole tenure has since been extended twice.

The ministry circular said, "Considering former minister Abdul Jalil's submission requesting extension of his parole for continuing treatment, the home ministry, on humanitarian grounds, extends the tenure of his parole by another two months with effect from May 13."

Earlier, Jalil was paroled for a month on March 2 for undergoing better treatment of his kidney ailment abroad and he left for Singapore on March 3.

Jalil was arrested on May 28, 2007. While in detention, he fell seriously ill on July 15 and was admitted to LabAid Hospital in Dhaka. He is suffering from kidney, blood pressure and eye complications.
