ACC to probe corruption in Post and Telecomm Ministry PDF Print E-mail

The Anti-Corruption Com-mission has constituted a special team to investigate corruption in the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and its different departments as part of the commission''s campaign to combat institutional corruption, reports agency.

ACC director general (admin) Col Hanif Iqbal said in a press briefing Wednesday that the special team, headed by a deputy director, will look into matters like issuance of government orders, irregularities in tender process and misuse of money with faulty tender process, maintenance of T&T, submarine cable, transport and mobile phone project.

He said the Commission has already written to the Secretary of the ministry to cooperate with the team and appoint a liaison officer in this regard.

Hanif said the team would directly go to the ministry and its different departments to carry out the investigations. The special team will comprise deputy director Nurul Islam (Team leader), assistant director Syed Ahmed and deputy assistant director Abdul Kader Jilani.

Earlier, the Commission has formed such special teams to investigate corruption in Roads and Highways department under the Communications Ministry and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
