Four JMB militants, including its Chittagong divisional commander Javed Iqbal alias Mohammad, were sentenced to 26 years'' rigorous imprisonment by a speedy tribunal here Wednesday in an explosives case.

Javed and two other JMB men, Abdul Malek Laltu and Shahadat Ali, were in the dock while another JMB member, Zahidul Islam alias Boma Mizan, was tried in absentia.

Judge of the divisional speedy trial tribunal Shafiqul Karim delivered the verdict and dropped the names of JMB chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman and its military commander Ataur Rahman Sunny from the charge as they were already executed.

Hearing the verdict, the JMB militants shouted in the courtroom saying they do not abide by the man-made law.

According to the prosecution, the JMB militants tossed a bomb on the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Akram Hossain on October 3, 2005, injuring a policeman. Later, a case was filed with Kotwali police under the Explosive Materials Act.
