BNP secretary general Khandkar Delwar Hossain has termed inhuman police obstruction to distribution of food among the distressed people by the party in different areas of the country, reports agency. The three-day programme of giving cooked food to the poor ended today. "Our party members spent money from their pockets to feed the poor across the country at this crisis. But police obstructed it and took away the cooked food," Delwar told reporters at BNP Nayabazara office in old Dhaka city this afternoon. The BNP leader said he was obstructed by the police wherever he went in connection with food distribution in the city. "This is inhuman. We tried to stand by the unfed people but the government obstructed us," he added. Assistant Police Commissioner Syed Nurul Islam told reporters that they restricted movement of Delwar in apprehension of violation of the state of emergency. Other BNP leaders distributed food among the poor in Mohammadpur, Farmgate and Gulshan kitchen market. |
