AP, LONDON -- The U.S. dollar was mostly higher against other major currencies in European trading Thursday morning. Gold rose.

The euro traded at $1.5746, down from $1.5896 late Wednesday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

--103.65 Japanese yen, up from 103.52

--1.0247 Swiss francs, up from 1.0158

--1.0164 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0175.

The British pound was quoted at $1.9752, down from $1.9803.

Gold traded in London at $900.75 per troy ounce, up from $900.50 late Wednesday.

In Zurich, gold traded at a $900.35 bid per troy ounce, up from $900.00. Silver opened in London at $17.12, down from $17.18
