Tamim for establishing ICT-based tourism PDF Print E-mail

Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Professor Dr M Tamim underlined the need for establishing ICT and internet-based tourism to flourish the sector, reports agency.

It is possible to make the tourism sector more attractive, cost-effective and profitable by providing services and information through ICT and internet, he said while inaugurating an international seminar at Islamic University of Technology (IUT) at Gazipur, an official handout said here.

The three-day seminar on ‘Development of e-tourism technologies in Islamic Countries’ was organized by the IUT with the support of OIC Secretariat, Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and Cultural and Tourism Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Prof Tamim said e-tourism is also getting popular in the developing countries as the number of internet users has been increasing day by day.

Mentioning the natural beauties of the OIC member countries, he said the Muslim countries could earn a huge amount of money by attracting tourists though proper use of e-tourism.

The special assistant said mutual cooperation among the OIC member states needs to be further strengthened for development of the tourism sector.

Presided over by IUT Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Imtiaz Hossain, the function was also addressed by representative of Cultural and Tourism Ministry of Azerbaijan Ismailova and Chief of IUT Computer and Information Department Professor Dr Abdul Motalib.
