Tongi peaking power plant shut down |

The 80-MW Tongi peaking power plant was shut down (Monday) following a sharp rise in gas booster temperature, worsening the power supply situation in an around the city, reports UNB.
Sources said the power plant was shut down at about 6pm.
Meanwhile, the Power Development Board (PDB) generated about 3,500 MW of electricity against the demand for over 4,800 MW.
Many areas of the city experienced load shedding for several hours in different spells as it received about 1,200 MW of power against the demand for over 1,800 MW, inflicting sufferings on the city dwellers during heat and humid weather.
