Two workers of a ship breaking firm were killed in gas cylinder explosion while breaking ship at Shitalpur in Sitakundu upazila here Sunday night. Police said gas cylinder of a foreign ship exploded when the workers of Namrin Ship Breaking yard were breaking it about 10pm on Sunday leaving Abdul Zahed and Abdur Razzak, 27, dead on the spot. On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the two workers from inside the yard at about 2am (Monday) and sent those to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Workers, however, said that Abdul Zahed and Abdur Razzak received severe burn injuries when the cylinder of the ship went off but the authority hid the workers instead of taking them to the hospital. They also claimed that another worker was killed in the explosion as he went missing from the yard. |
