CUJ Biennial Election

The biennial election 2008 of Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) was held on the Chittagong Press Club Premises from 9:00am to 4:00pm without any break on Sunday last.

Mostaq Ahmed and Nazim Uddin Shymol were elected president and general secretary in the election. Mostaq Ahmed of the daily Inquilab defeated incumbent CUJ President Shahid Ul Alam while Sultan Ahmad Ashrafi of the Azadi became the vice president beating Shishir Barua.

Nazim Uddin Shymol of The Daily Independent was elected general secretary defeating incumbent general secretary Reaz Haider of the daily Purbokone.

The other office bearers are Joint-secretary Mohammad Ali of the Dainik Purbakone, press and publication secretary Alamgir Sabuj of the Bhorer Kagoj, Treasurer Ratan Kanti Debashish of the daily Purbakone, Organising Secretary Soumen Dharr of Suprabhat Bangladesh and Executive Members Nuruddin Ahmed of the daily Ajker Chattagram, Santu Kumar Das of Suprabhat Bangladesh and Mujahidul Islam of the daily Karnaphuli. Siddique Ahmed ,Election Commission Chairman, Shahidul Islam Bachchu and Pankaj Dastider, members conducted the polls.
