‘Police force to be modernised through reforms’ PDF Print E-mail

Home Adviser Maj Gen (retd) M A Matin, Bir Pratik, said the government is contemplating promulgation of a police reform ordinance to raise standard of police services, reports agency.

“The police force will be modernised further through the reforms,” he said while inaugurating the “Second police executive development course”, a three-month long training programme, at the Police Staff College at Mirpur in the city as the chief guest.

The promulgation of the police reform ordinance will be possible during the tenure of the present government, Matin said adding that the government is seeking views of the stakeholders, including the people at the grassroots, giving due importance to update the activities of the police.

Acting Inspector General of the Bangladesh Police Naba Bikram Kishore Tripura attended the function as the special guest with Rector of the Police Staff College AKM Mahfuzul Haq in the chair.

Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Hasan Mahmood Khandker, Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Nayeem Ahmed and senior officers were present. The just promoted nine superintendents of police (SPs) and 13 additional SPs are taking part in the training.
