Ansar-VDP Bank realizes Tk 3 cr thru’ ‘halkhata’ PDF Print E-mail

The state-run Ansar-VDP Bank has set a record of realizing Taka 3 crore in one single day with opening of the “halkhata” at its 81 branches in an attempt to revive the traditional business practices coinciding with the Boishakhi festivity, reports agency.

“Hundreds of our clients were invited to join the halkhata festival at the branches on the second day of Boishakh on April 15 when they returned nearly Taka 3 crore,” said a statement of the bank.

The bank runs micro-credit programme for the members of the auxiliary Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) forces.

It said 359 members of the Ansar and VDP also opened new accounts on the occasion with different branches.

Established in 1995, the bank offers small credit with a highest limit of Taka 50,000 for 50 self-employment trades ranging from automobile repairing shops to shoe polishing. The recovery rate of the bank is 96 percent.

The bank last year distributed Taka 108.36 crore among 48,000 clients.
