‘Postal stamps upholds heritage of country’ PDF Print E-mail

Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Post and Telecommunications Brig. Gen (retd) MA Malek on Friday said the postal stamps can play a very important role in upholding the country’s rich heritage by displaying its natural beauty, culture and tradition across the world, reports agency.

He directed the postal department to take necessary measures in this regard, an official handout said. The special assistant said this while releasing commemorative stamp and first day cover on ‘World Heritage Sundarban’ at the conference room of Postal Bhaban here.

Post and Telecommunications Secretary Iqbal Mahmud and philatelist Dr Kazi Shariful Alam, among others, addressed the function with Director General of Postal Department Mobashasherur Rahman in the chair.

Bangladesh Postal Department has released four commemorative stamps of Taka 10 each, souvenir sheet valued Taka 50 and first day cover valued Taka 6.

MA Malek released the stamps, souvenir sheet and first day cover using a special cancellation stamp at the function.
