BDR Director General Maj Gen Shakil Ahmed Saturday dismissed the Indian allegation that there are insurgent camps or hideouts in Bangladesh, reports UNB. Talking to reporters at Zia International Airport on his return from BDR-BSF talks in New Delhi, he said Bangladesh never supported insurgents of any country, including India. "The question of having insurgent camps in Bangladesh can''t rise at all." Gen Shakil said the Indian side at the talks accepted Bangladesh''s position, but said there are hideouts in Bangladesh which was also rejected by the Bangladesh side. "Bangladesh is a densely populated country. So, there cannot be any hideout," he asserted. The DG-level BDR-BSF conference agreed to exchange information about cross-border crimes at the sector commander level. The BDR chief said Bangladesh requested the Indian side not to kill but take legal action if any person enters the Indian territory unlawfully. He said the 6-day conference that began on April 7 was fruitful. |
