Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five suspected criminals, including four drug peddlers, and seized phensidyl and scrap materials from different areas in three northern districts during the last 24 hours till Friday afternoon, RAB sources in Rajshahi said, reports agency.

On tips-off, they picked up the drug peddlers identified as Foyzul Islam, 28, Ziaur Rahman, 32, Mongla, 45, and Motiur Rahman, 47, with 103 bottles of phensidyl during three separate drives at different places in Joypurhat and Naogaon districts.

In another raid in Noboganga area under Rajpara Police Station in the city, RAB seized 200 kilograms of copper and brass scrap material, which were being smuggled out to India.

However, none could be arrested in this connection. They also arrested a wanted criminal identified as Lutfor Rahman, 55, during a raid at his Bolshit village under Kalai upazila of Joypurhat district. The arrested persons and the seized goods were handed over to the concerned police stations.
