Speakers at a seminar have underscored the need for further development of proficiency and excellence in making the public relations (PR) profession more effective and successful, reports agency.

They were addressing the seminar on ‘Public Relations Occupation in Bangladesh: Challenges in the 21st Century’ Tuesday in the auditorium of the Bangladesh Institute of Journalism and Electronic Media (BIJEM) in the city.

Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury addressed the seminar as the chief guest with Executive Director of the BIJEM Mirza Tarequl Quader in the chair.

Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury stressed the need for improving quality of the PR as the level excellence in the profession in Bangladesh is relatively less compared to that of the most South Asian countries.

He emphasised the need for proper knowledge, skills and excellence to achieving a success in the profession. Senior trainer of the PIB M Oliur Rahamn presented a keynote paper at the seminar.

President of the Bangladesh Public Relations Association Mostafa-e-Jamil, general secretary of the association AHM Bazlul Haq, Assistant Director of the ISPR SM Salahuddin and Information Officer of the ISPR Wazir Uddin Ahmed, among others, also spoke at the function.
