Organized by Meherpur District Police, a view exchange parley on the Draft Bangladesh Police Ordinance, 2007 took place on Thursday at local circuit house with a retired Associate Prof. Moyzuddin Ahmd in the chair.

Asaduzzaman Miah, PPM, Acting DIG, Khulna Range was present as the chief guest. Abdul Halim Mollah, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishod, Abdur Razzak, Police Super, Dr. Dipok Lal Bonik, Civil Surgeon, Abdur Rouf, Executive Engineer of PWD, Anwar Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner were present as special guests.

Besides, hundred of people from different classes attended the programme and took part in discussion included. The chief guest in his speeches said, there are many departments in Bangladesh.

But it is only the Police Department has approached the members of the public with a Draft Bangladesh Police Ordinance 2007 for their opinions.

Since its inception, Police was used to be called force but now it is attributed as 'Police Service'. Police will no more discharge their duties in the interests of the vested quarter.

Before opening the discussion, Police Super Abdur Razzak described the limitation of prevailing the Police Act 1861 and the main characteristics of the Draft Police Ordinance 2007 respectively.

ASP Selim Reza Khan administered the program. The speakers underscored the necessity of implementing the police ordinance without further loss of time.
