League general secretary M Abdul Jalil''s parole has been extended by 10 days from April 1 for the sake of his current treatment abroad, an official announcement said Tuesday, reports UNB.

The Home Ministry granted the extension of his parole "on humanitarian grounds and for the sake of his treatment" following his application, it said.

Seriously sick, the detained Awami League leader was set free on one-month parole on March 2 and was flown to Singapore the day after and admitted to Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He has since been undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The government asked for sending all treatment- related papers to the authorities concerned.

Jalil was arrested by joint forces from his Mercantile Bank office in Motijheel in the capital on May 28 last year under the ongoing anti-graft crackdown on suspected corrupt politicians in the interim period.
