Staff Correspondent Bangladesh has asked global investors to invest more in the country's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. The call was made on Wednesday at an event organised by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, said a statement from the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN. The two-day event included a series of interactive panel discussions and country presentations by emerging markets such as Bangladesh and Turkey, as well as already developed markets such as India, the statement said. Information technology professionals, investors, venture capitalists and representatives from developing countries and international financial institutions attended the programme. The Bangladesh team was formed by a government representative from the Bangladesh mission to the United Nations and three representatives from the private sector, who appraised the forum of the positive environment in Bangladesh in order to attract more investment to the country's ICT sector. International investors were appreciative of the recent developments in the country's ICT sector, the investment climate and the potential for return on equity in Bangladesh, said the statement. |
