Agency Three compartments of the intercity train Teesta were derailed Thursday, in the Begunbari area of Mymensingh. There was no immediate report of casualties. Witnesses said the train departed for Dhaka from Dewanganj in Jamalpur at 3.30 pm. The three compartments came off the track at about 4.30 pm, compelling passengers to leap from the train. Though a number of passengers suffered minor injuries, they told bdnews24.com that "the situation could have been worse". They were saved from a severe accident as the train was travelling at low speed, passengers said. |
