Three muggers shot a businessman in Dhanmondi Tuesday and made off with Tk 3.5 lakh, police said. The injured scrap dealer, 35 year-old Md Yusuf, son of Abed Ali Mollah, is a resident of Mohammadpur.

Sub-inspector of Dhanmondi Police Station Mostafizur Rahman said police rescued the wounded Yusuf from the spot and rushed him to Samarita Hospital.

He was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The businessman was riding a bicycle as the muggers on a motorbike obstructed his way near Kalabagan field.

They shot him in the right side of the chest and snatched his bag loaded with the money. Ismail Hossain, the victim's elder brother, told bdnews24.com that Yusuf was returning to his shop in Mohammadpur after making a large sale in Mitford.
