Acting CCC Mayor Alhaj M Monzur Alam yesterday said, the education sector under CCC has been given top priority in a bid to facilitate education in the district.

“ Lions share of the corporation’s revenue is spent in this sector” he added. He made these observations while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of annual sports competition of city’s Al Koron Nur Ahmed City Corporation High School as Chief Guest.

Commissioner Tareq Solaiman, chairman of school governing committee chaired the meeting where City Corp Education Standing Committee Chair Md. Zafar Alam Chowdhury, Commissioner Niaz Mohammed Khan, Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud Hasni, Prof. Selim Jahangir, Alhaj Abdur Rahman and CCC Chief Edn Officer Rowsan Akhter Hanif spoke as Special Guests.

With reference to this year allocation by the government in education he informed that the government has not yet sanctioned any grants this year but the commerce adviser has sincerely taken steps to ease the crisis in this sector.

The mayor also said that most of the works related to water logging in the city are nearing completion.

He urged the city dwellers to refrain from filling up the canals, drains and sewers by dumping garbage. Later, the mayor gave away prizes among the winners of annual sports competition of the school, says a press release.
