Three engineers of Feni Pourasabha, now working in some other districts, have been suspended for their negligence of duty in connection with the Krira Complex tragedy in 1999, reports UNB. The suspension order signed by senior assistant secretary of LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry Ahsanul Huq reached here on Thursday. They are the then assistant engineer Nesar Ahmed, now working as executive engineer in Noakhali pourasabha, sub assistant engineers Kazi Harun-or-Rashid and Anwar Hossain, now working as assistant engineers in Sitakunda and Charfession pourasabhas respectively. Poura chairman Nurul Absar said they were suspended following a report submitted by a committee formed for investigating the Krira Complex collapse tragedy in 1999 that killed eight construction workers and injured over 200 others. A case was filed against four persons, including former MP Joynal Hazari and the then poura chairman Kobbad Ahmed in this connection on April 26, 2007 following an investigation report of Anti Corruption Commission Task Force. |
