India has pledged to provide 40,000 tonnes of rice, 10,000 tonnes of wheat and 1,000 tonnes of skimmed milk powder for the people affected by floods and other natural disasters, the Indian High Commission said in a statement Wednesday.

India will provide 15,000 tonnes of rice as assistance from March to April, it further said.

"The commercial vessel carrying 7,500 tonnes of rice is en route to Chittagong Port," the statement said.

India supplied 1,000 tonnes of skimmed milk powder in February and March through Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation.

Earlier, Indian naval ships carried 5,000 tonnes of rice in December last year and January this year.
