Birshrestha Nur Mohammad Shaikh Memorial Museum and Library will be inaugurated at his home village of Mohiskhola under sadar upazila in Narail.

The complex, built at a cost of Tk 63 lakh, gives the village a new look 37 years after the war hero sacrificed his life for liberating the country.

Marking the inaugural, a three-day book fair will begin at the complex. Agriculture and water resources adviser CS Karim will inaugurate the programme, while Bangladesh Rifles director general Major General Sakil Ahmed and local government secretary Shaikh Kurshid Alam will be present. He joined the then East Bengal Rifles in 1969 and took part in the War of Independence in 1971.

He was one of the seven war veterans who were awarded the highest gallantry, Birshrestha.
