World Consumer Rights Day was observed in Bangladesh as elsewhere with call for campaigning to stop the marketing of unhealthy food to children.

The Consumers Association of Bangladesh held a seminar in Dhaka to discuss the creation of awareness of junk food in line with this year’s theme of the day, ‘Junk food generation — the Consumers International campaign to stop the marketing of unhealthy food to children.’

CAB held an awareness campaign at the University Laboratory School in Dhaka.

The Bangladesh Journalists Forum for Consumers and Investors organised a seminar at the National Press Club.

About 22 million children aged below five in the world are already overweight or obese, according to the Consumers International.
