Bangladesh considers opening a mission in Sudan, foreign affairs adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said Wednesday. A draft agreement on economic cooperation between the two Muslim countries was under process, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

"Sudan wants Bangladesh to participate in its economic progress," the foreign ministry quoted Sudanese state minister for foreign affairs Elsamani Elwasila Elsamani as saying to Iftekhar at a meeting.

The two leaders, now in the Senegalese capital Dakar for the summit of Organisation of Islamic Conference, had bilateral talks Wednesday.

"Initiatives are underway to open a diplomatic mission in Khartoum in line with Bangladesh's growing relations with that country," Iftekhar told the Sudanese minister.

"A draft cooperation agreement is under negotiations which both sides have agreed should be signed soon," said Iftekhar. The Sudanese minister invited Iftekhar to visit Khartoum.
