A special judge’s court on Tuesday asked the Anti-Corruption Commission to take action against two of its officials for neglect in inquiry and investigation into three cases which resulted in the acquittal of a person accused of misappropriating money through fake tax tokens.

Shamsunnahar Begum, judge of the special judge’s court 4 of Dhaka set up on the Jatiya Sangsad complex, gave the order in its verdict on the three cases filed against Abdul Wahed Khan, an employee of the Shantinagar post office in Dhaka.

Acquitting Wahed of the charges, the court observed that the charges against him could not be proved because of the negligence by the plaintiff and the investigation officer, two assistant directors of the commission, in inquiry and investigation into the cases.

The court, however, jailed four other employees of the post office — Badal Kumar Nandi for three years in one of the cases, Fariduddin Patwari for six months in another case, Sufia Khatun for one year in two cases and Abu Bakar Siddique Mizi for one year in two cases.

The court also fined Badal Tk 40 lakh, Fariduddin Tk 50,000, Sufia Tk 2 lakh and Bakar Tk 1.5 lakh.
