The Dhaka Stock Exchange on Tuesday announced fresh schedule for election to the posts of four directors of its board fixing the polls date on May 11, said officials.

‘The bourse’s election commission has also set April 3 to 10 for submission of nomination papers by the candidates,’ said a senior official of the DSE.

The DSE has to announce fresh schedule as the DSE directorship polls would not be held on March 9 according to the earlier schedule, as all candidates withdrew their candidatures.

On March 2, the DSE also deferred the date for holding its 46th annual general meeting to May 15 upon getting permission of the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms for the deferral.

The DSE has to reschedule the AGM date, which was earlier scheduled to be held on March 13, to hold the directorship polls before the AGM.

On February 28, the DSE got permission of the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms for deferral of the AGM. The regulator asked the bourse to hold the AGM within June 15.

There are 12 elected and 12 nominated directors in the board of directors of the DSE. According to the DSE constitution, four elected directors are replaced every year by four others through direct voting. The new directors are elected for a three-year term.
