UNB, Sunamganj

Two sustained bullet injuries when an Ansar team opened fire on fishermen in a haor of Dharmapal upazila in Sunamganj on Sunday.

The injured — Delwar 31, and shafiqul Islam, 28 — were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in a serious condition.

Confirming the incident Dharmapal UNO Mahmud Mia said, an Ansar team in a drive against current net went to the haor area early in the morning. The fishermen taking them as dacoits raised hue and cry and joined by villagers launched an attack.

The Ansars opened fire in self-defence leaving the two fishermen wounded. Locals alleged that UP member Habi Mia in its evil design to punish his foes used the Ansars against the poor fishermen who used to earn livelihood by fishing in haors.
