Bangladesh Rifles in separate drives, seized smuggled clothes worth Tk 1.50 crore in the district on Friday and on Saturday.

A BDR team after a chase seized a covered van at Harisardar in Chouddagram upazila on Dhaka-Chittagong highway Friday night.

Clothes worth Tk 1.25 crore were seized from the van, BDR sources said. None was arrested in this connection.

The team seized Indian saris and three pieces worth Tk 25 lakh in an abandoned condition in Sadar Dakkhin upazila on Saturday morning.

The seized clothes were deposited to the local customs office later.
