| Dhakabasi holds kite festival |

Staff Correspondent Dhakabasi organised a colourful kite festival at the Dhaka University playground on Friday in observance of the 400 years of the Dhaka city. Cultural affairs adviser Rasheda K Chowdhury inaugurated the festival which was also attended by Canadian High Commissioner Barbara Richardson, Malaysian High Commissioner Abdul Malek Bin Abdul Aziz and pro-vice chancellor of the Dhaka University, AFM Yusuf Haider. ‘Love the favourite Dhaka and keep the city clean’ was the slogan of the festival organised by the association of the residents of capital. The organisers on the occasion also held a discussion which was chaired by Nadim Ahmed Chowdhury and it was addressed, among others, by Dulal Biswas, Mohammad Sukur Salek, Galib Bin Mohammad, Abdul Barek Sona Miah and Sheikh Khoda Baksh. Kalachand band party of Old Town of Dhaka played music while Abdul Kader enthra-lled the audience with his snake charming flute at the university ground. An art competition on kites by school children was also held. |
