Five, including a primary school headmistress and her two brothers, were killed in separate road accidents in Gazipur on Thursday.

At least 11 were injured in the incidents.

The deceased were Parvin Akter, 36, headmistress of the Shreepur Beraiderchala Government Primary School, her younger brother Sawkat Hossain Pradhan, 34, and elder brother Majharul Islam Pradhan, 45, microbus driver Lal Mia, 25, and truck driver Feroz Mia, 35.

Local sources said Parvin along with her brothers and son Nipun, 7, were returning home after a visit to her ailing daughter, a student of Milestone College at Uttara in Dhaka, in a microbus to Shreepur.

When the bus reached Bagherbazar on the Dhaka–My-mensingh Highway at about 1.45am Thursday, a truck collided with the microbus, killing Parvin, her brothers and the driver.

Nipun survived the accident with critical injuries and was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

At about 7:00am, two trucks and a human hauler collided on the Dhaka–Tangail Highway at Shafipur, killing the driver of a truck, Firoz Mia, 35, on the spot. At least 10 passengers of the human hauler were injured, who are admitted to hospital.
