Agency BRAC Bank managing director Imran Rahman died of a stroke at the age of 45 in Canada early Thursday, a bank official said. ‘It occurred when Imran was about to leave his Toronto home for Dhaka around 3.30am (BDST),’ Noman Reza, manager (branding and events) of BRAC Bank, told the news agency by phone. He was found dead in their bedroom by his wife when she went to call him for breakfast. Imran joined BRAC Bank in 2003 as deputy managing director and was promoted to managing director and chief executive officer in 2006. Son of the late air commodore Gazi Lutfor Rahman, Imran is survived by his mother, wife and their two children. Imran was a student of Dhaka University. In a condolence message, Mamun Rashid, managing director of Citibank, NA, Bangladesh, said Imran’s contribution to the banking industry ‘should always be remembered’. |
